I’ve decided for the sake of personal taste to set this tale within what I would describe as a “continuity-collage” - my favorite elements of the characters coming together in a completely original storyline.Īnd yet paradoxically, as a stickler for continuity, almost all of the characters I’ve used in this story are either canon characters or related to canon characters. Barbara is out of the wheelchair like in the New 52 yet Helena remains her pale-skinned self from the Post-Crisis continuity. Now, this story doesn’t really follow any continuity found in the DC Universe. This is generally not a happy story and if you are expecting a clean-cut happy ending, you should best look elsewhere. Jokes aside, let this be a fair warning to those who are faint of heart. Now watch me show my appreciation for these strong, powerful women by putting them in a dark and twisted erotic tale that explores kinks and fetishes that might not sit well with some people. Sure, they’re great on their own, but for me they shine brightest working together as the crime-fighting sisterhood, The Birds of Prey. Barbara Gordon, Dinah Lance, and Helena Bertinelli have always resonated with me as deeply engaging women that play wonderfully off of each other. Never mind that they’re strong, gorgeous women running around in skin-tight or scanty outfits - I was also interested in them as characters. The Birds of Prey disbanded, only to be re-formed once again with its core line up of Black Canary, Huntress, Lady Blackhawk, and Oracle. The team's headquarters has changed several times, starting with the Gotham Clock Tower where Oracle worked, and upon its destruction going mobile on Aerie one, then moving to Metropolis, and then began operating out of Platinum Flats.
Since then, the team has grown extensively, starting with Oracle incorporating a rotating team of agents after One Year Later for a period after Black Canary left to focus on other matters, before eventually settling down with a stable lineup. After Black Canary was kidnapped by the villain Savant, Oracle contacted the Huntress for help, eventually taking her in as a permanent agent, and later adding Lady Blackhawk as well. The Birds of Prey spent the first part of their existence operating out of the Gotham Clock Tower, and for many missions the team was essentially just a partnership of Oracle and the Black Canary.
